FCRA-compliant background checks
Every background check on Callme AI is processed through Checkr, Inc., a certified Consumer Reporting Agency (CRA). We follow all FCRA-required steps to protect both families and caregivers.
How it works — 5 FCRA-required steps
Disclosure & Authorization
The caregiver receives a clear standalone disclosure that a background check will be conducted, plus a copy of their FCRA Summary of Rights. Written authorization is required before screening begins.
Background check processed
Checkr processes the report — SSN trace, criminal records, sex offender registry, and optional county/motor vehicle/identity checks depending on the tier selected.
Report delivered to family
The hiring family receives the background check report through their Callme AI dashboard. Results are never shared publicly.
Pre-adverse action (if applicable)
If the report contains adverse information that may affect the hiring decision, the family must provide the caregiver with a copy of the report and a pre-adverse action notice before taking action.
Adverse action (if applicable)
After a reasonable waiting period (typically 5 business days), the family may take adverse action. The caregiver receives a final adverse action notice with information on how to dispute the report.
